Are you ready to make a real difference in people’s lives in Cardiff? We’re looking for a full-time (35 hours) Housing Interventions Worker based at the Cardiff Probation Office to help men on probation secure safe, sustainable housing and prevent homelessness. You’ll work closely with prisons, probation, and housing colleagues to deliver high-quality, person-focused support that reduces reoffending.
What you’ll do:
- Provide 1-2-1 housing advice and interventions for men on probation or soon-to-be released from custody.
- Complete comprehensive housing needs assessments and develop action plans to improve housing outcomes.
- Source and manage properties in the private rented sector, ensuring they meet legal and safety standards.
- Liaise with landlords, local authorities, and support agencies to secure the best housing options.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice, meet targets, and reduce reoffending.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong knowledge of housing systems and welfare benefits.
- Experience providing advice on housing, re-housing, and welfare support.
- Skilled at assessing clients’ needs, including complex cases involving substance use or mental health issues.
- Experience creating support plans that help clients maintain their tenancy.
- Confidence working with adults facing multiple disadvantages, including homelessness, unemployment, and recovery challenges.

All probation-based roles are subject to enhanced DBS checks and HMPPS security vetting. These checks can take up to 6-8 weeks to complete. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of both checks. Please note if you have lived overseas within the last 5 years then checks may take longer.
