Our client is delivering FPGA and software-defined radio capability for UK national security customers. They are looking for an OpenCPI engineer to design, build and integrate signal processing solutions that support SIGINT and RF missions, working in secure environments alongside customer and delivery teams.
Security Clearance
- BPSS and current UKIC DV required
- Experience in a secure National Security or MOD environment is essential
Locations
- Romsey or Gloucester, with some customer site attendance
Contract Details
- Duration: 6 months+
- Day rate: £700/750
- IR35: Inside
- If you are looking for a permanent option that is available too (salary based on grade/ experience)
The Role
- Design, develop and optimise OpenCPI components and applications for SIGINT and RF systems
- Build OpenCPI workers and containers in C/C++ and HDL (VHDL or Verilog)
- Integrate DSP chains onto FPGA and embedded Linux platforms
- Carry out trade studies across performance, latency and resource utilisation
- Support system architecture and technical design decisions
Test and Assurance
- Define test plans against customer requirements and acceptance criteria
- Build automated test harnesses and regression environments
- Identify defects, bottlenecks and integration risks early
- Provide clear evidence for assurance and accreditation
Delivery
- Work with Delivery Managers to move designs into deployed capability
- Operate within customer-facing secure environments
- Raise technical risks, dependencies and resourcing needs early
Essential Experience
- Hands-on experience with the OpenCPI framework
- Strong C/C++ in embedded or Linux environments
- Sound understanding of DSP principles
- FPGA integration experience (Xilinx or Intel toolchains)
- SDR and RF signal processing experience
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex integration and performance issues
- Credibility with National Security stakeholders
