Clearance: UK security clearance eligibility required (clearable)
If you're the person people turn to when a system isn't behaving as it should, and you enjoy figuring out why, this could be worth a look.
I'm supporting an established UK Sovereign technology manufacturer that's expanding its engineering team following further investment and growing demand for its specialist products.
The attraction here is the breadth of engineering exposure.
Rather than staying in a traditional Infrastructure or Network Support role, you'll get hands-on with technology spanning hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking and software, helping develop, test and improve products used in demanding commercial and secure environments.
What you'll be working across
- Infrastructure & Systems: Windows/Linux, enterprise servers and troubleshooting
- Networking: TCP/IP, switching, routing, firewalls and network security
- Systems Integration: Understanding how hardware, software and firmware work together
- Product Testing: Investigating issues, developing test cases and improving product reliability
- Automation: Supporting the development of automated testing and regression frameworks, including Python scripting
You don't necessarily need a background in formal product testing.
We're equally interested in Infrastructure, Networking or Systems Engineers with strong troubleshooting skills who enjoy getting under the bonnet of technology and want to develop their automation and testing capabilities.
Why it's worth a look
This is a smaller, collaborative engineering environment where you're encouraged to develop your own technical interests.
Engineers have opportunities to branch into R&D, software development, operating systems and broader product engineering as their experience grows.
We've already helped engineers join the business, with particularly positive feedback around the variety of technologies and responsibilities they're exposed to.
There's also a strong benefits package, including
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28
- enhanced pension and parental leave
- employee discounts
- flexible working arrangements
Location & Clearance
You'll need to be within commuting distance of client site in Devon and comfortable working predominantly on-site with the engineering team.
Active security clearance isn't essential, but you must be eligible to security clearance long-term.
If you're looking to move beyond traditional Infrastructure or Network Support into a broader engineering role, I'd be happy to talk you through the opportunity.
You don't need to tick every technical box. Curiosity, problem-solving ability and a willingness to learn will count for a lot.
