I’m working with a growing, investment-backed business who are looking to bring in a hands-on Data Platform Lead to build out their data capability. This is a greenfield role focused on building a modern Azure-based data platform; they don’t have a centralised platform in place yet, so you’ll be coming in to design and build it properly from the ground up.

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary up to £90k + 10% bonus
  • Hybrid working – 1 day per week in Manchester
  • Fully stocked office for your office days
  • Option to buy extra holiday
  • Pension
  • Healthcare plan
  • Social events + more

The role:

You’ll be the go-to person for everything data to start with. No team under you right now, just someone who can come in, roll their sleeves up and build something properly. The focus is on putting together a modern Azure-based data platform that the business can actually rely on.

Key skills:

  • Azure
  • MS Fabric
  • Databricks
  • Power BI
  • SQL, Python
  • ETL / ELT pipelines
  • Data modelling

Day to day will involve:

  • Building out the data platform from the ground up
  • Creating pipelines, models and reporting layer
  • Pulling data together from different systems across the business
  • Getting solid reporting in place for senior stakeholders
  • Setting some structure around data (governance, standards, etc.)

What they’re after?

  • Someone who’s done this before, ideally built a platform from scratch or supported the build from scratch
  • Strong hands-on experience across the Microsoft data stack
  • Comfortable working as the only data person initially
  • Able to speak to stakeholders and actually understand what they need

Why it’s worth a look?

  • You’ll own the data platform build, chance to do it properly
  • Backed by investment so things will actually move
  • Proper opportunity to shape how data is used across the business
  • Scope to build something long-term (and potentially a team later)

If you want something where you can actually build, not just maintain, this is a great opportunity. Interviews are taking place as we speak, APPLY NOW or contact us.

Please note no sponsorship is available and you must already be based in the UK to apply.
