Our client is the recognised global leader and reference in crane rental services, heavy lifting, and engineered transport. They are currently looking to add an experienced Transport Manager to their team.
To ensure efficient, financially optimal and effective planning of drivers, transport and equipment. To support heavy cranes and transport requirements in accordance with the applicable quality, safety and environmental norms.
Key result areas & Key deliverables- SHEQ & Compliance: Responsible for motivating/ensuring everyone works safely and according to SHEQ standards, as stated in the document of SHEQ department - Responsibilities manager with regard to Safety, Quality & Environment, to ensure that all work is done in a safe, efficient and qualitative way. Shows the attitude of lean and continuous improvements in his/her organization. Makes safety suggestions/recommendations when and where appropriate. Is responsible for making sure that all executed activities and processes are in compliance with SHEQ standards, policies, instructions, and local legislation.
- A knowledge of heavy transportation and equipment.
- The most efficient, effective and financially optimal planning of machinists and transport and, if required, the hiring of equipment or services.
- Ensuring all Transport operations are planned in the most cost-effective manner through shared resources.
- Daily management of internal team, ensuring tasks are met.
- Management of training matrix and competencies to ensure compliance.
- Build relationships and liaise with relevant authorities to ensure route notifications are acceptable and approved.
- Ensure internal resources/equipment are fully utilised.
- Plan/liaise with subcontractors in advance on a week-by-week basis to manage external costs.
- Ensure quotes and POs are raised as per company policy before work commences.
- To prepare packing/transport lists.
- International transport and customs tariff.
- Management of FORS accreditation.
- Responsible for the legal compliance for transportation fleet.
- Answering questions from internal and external customers regarding the work to be performed.
- Entering all relevant and required details for a complete and accurate administration.
- Coaching and managing employees.
- Strive for continuous improvement of own function and that of the entire Transport department.
- Out of hours calls are responded to on own jobs or in times of holiday cover.
