Our client is looking for an experienced and dedicated VMU Manager, who leads by example and inspires the team around them. We are looking for a great candidate who will create a good working atmosphere, enthuse and motivate their team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and control workforce resource availability to meet customer fleet demands.
  • Manage and control labour costs, including use of third parties.
  • Comply with safety audits and manage working code of practice for contractors.
  • Ensure planning for facilities, bays, machines, tools, diagnosis installations, etc. are carried out correctly, and optimise design of workplaces and processes.
  • Prepare planning and calculations for investments in workshops, facilities and HR, together with company management.
  • Regularly review prices for workshop services and, after prior agreement with management, adapt them to suit the market.
  • Measure and report on daily workshop performance around retail sales, warranty and internal contract.
  • WIP management and cash control.
  • Employ new staff and carry out effective induction.
  • Manage, coach and motivate employees, ensuring retention of high-quality team members.
  • Define target agreements with employees and review level of target achievement.

Skills & Behaviours Required

  • Qualification – Level 3 NVQ, City and Guilds or IMI qualification in vehicle repair and maintenance; previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Resilience – strong coping skills and ability to handle challenges.
  • Communication – love being the first point of contact for the team and inspiring through engaging communication.
  • Motivation – essential for personal and team success; key part of the role as an outstanding team player.
  • Time Management – ability to prioritise and complete tasks within timeframes to meet customer demands and maintain workshop efficiency.
