About the team: Our Risk Consulting Public & Social Sector team provides distinctive internal audit and advisory services across six sectors – local government, central government, health and social care, housing and charities.
About the role: We are looking for a responsible, proactive and quality-driven individual with project and programme expertise. You will be responsible for delivering high quality and value-added programme and project advisory, audit and assurance services across our portfolio of Public Service clients.
The role will principally involve co-ordination and day-to-day delivery of a range of programme and project assurance related services to clients to the agreed quality and in accordance with agreed timescales. In addition, you will be expected to play a key role in business development alongside training and development of the wider team.
The team has experienced strong growth in recent years and is well placed to build on this further with strong opportunities in the short to medium term for further progression for successful candidates. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider success of the Risk Consulting service line and help in its continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordination and support for the overall work programme for Programme and Project Assurance for Public Service clients.
- Planning and performance of fieldwork including closing meetings with the management team.
- Preparation of draft reports.
- Maintaining good relationships with clients.
- Assistance on other special assignments (e.g. investigations) as and when required.
- Providing on-the-job training and supervision of junior team members as well as the wider team.
- Considering the needs and skills of those under supervision, organising tasks and responsibilities.
- Controlling assignments from planning through to preparation of draft reports in line with agreed timescales.
- Building strong working relationships with the client, ensuring any problems or requests are dealt with promptly.
- Maintaining control and stability under pressure whilst recognising the deadline or urgency to be dealt with.
- Responding to the needs of the client and team members.
- Ability to make confident and clear presentations of service features and benefits to clients.
- Ensures that the services provided are genuinely appropriate for the client.
- Identify opportunities and prospects for new work.
- Ensure standards and procedures maintained by the whole team.
- Providing constructive feedback for the completion of team member performance appraisals.
- Assesses and produces high quality work in line with the Firm's policy and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.
What are we looking for?
- Experience with project and programme management or working in a PMO.
- Experience of delivering reviews within the Public Services arena.
- Good understanding and application of relevant frameworks and guidance including HM Treasury The Green Book, HM Government Functional Standard GovS 002 as well as the Infrastructure and Projects Authority.
- Good interpersonal and client handling skills.
- Experience of managing, training and coaching trainees.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Actively seeks to enhance expertise and knowledge.
- Ability to develop new initiatives and methodologies.
- Ability to identify issues through sound analysis and application of commercial acumen in all situations.
- Provides assistance, shares experience, provides meaningful feedback and proactively supports the development of others.
