Group CIO Role Purpose, Accountabilities, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
We are looking for a Group CIO to join and lead our growing Technology & Digital Solutions (T&DS) team, a team of more than 60 talented people across the world committed to the right execution of the Forvis Mazars strategy. The Group CIO holds end-to-end accountability for the Group Technology, Data and IT Services landscape (T&DS), with a primary mandate to contribute to the “Data-Powered Organization” pillar of the Group’s Stellar strategy. In this context, the CIO establishes the Group-wide foundations, platforms, standards and operating models that enable consistent, scalable and secure use of data and technology across all countries, service lines and functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting business technology and digital platforms, ensuring that the necessary technological resources are available to support the building and operation of service delivery, client solutions, and internal processes.
- Enterprise Architecture and core platforms, ensuring coherence, interoperability and scalability across the federated model.
- Cybersecurity, IT risk and operational resilience, protecting data assets and ensuring continuity and compliance.
- Digital Workplace, infrastructure and platforms, enabling effective collaboration and data-driven ways of working.
- IT Service Management and service continuity, ensuring reliability and consistency across all geographies.
- Supporting data platforms, analytics and AI, delivering the core enablers of a data-powered organization.
While the CIO’s leadership focus is on the Data-Powered Organization pillar, the role acts as a key contributor to the other Stellar pillars (Complex, large and international clients, culture of excellence, sustaining our partnership model), ensuring technology and data capabilities effectively support broader Group ambitions. Operational execution (“run”) is primarily overseen by the Deputy CIO, who ensures day-to-day stability, security, service quality and operational coordination, and reported on to the Group CIO who remains accountable for the operations in the end. The CIO retains overall accountability for the full scope, ensuring continuous alignment between operational delivery, transformation initiatives and the objectives of the Stellar strategy.
Coordination with Regions and Countries
The Group CIO ensures structured, effective coordination with Regional CIOs (RCIOs) who report directly to him/her and Country CIOs. In this context, the CIO:
- Defines, owns and enforces Group Core standards, policies and reference frameworks (architecture, data, security, platforms, service management).
- Ensures consistent understanding and application of these Group Core elements across regions and countries.
- Organises governance and decision forums to identify and manage strategic topics that fall within the “common” category, requiring group alignment, industrialisation and scale.
- Coordinates “distinct” or local topics, where regional or country-specific solutions are justified by regulatory, market or operational constraints, to ensure Group standards are met while not taking ownership of these solutions.
The CIO ensures that:
- Common topics are addressed through Group-level solutions, shared platforms and collective investments.
- Distinct topics are managed transparently, with clear articulation of country requirements and business cases, and alignment with Group principles.
RCIOs and Country CIOs are key partners in execution, responsible for local implementation, adoption and operational delivery, while contributing to the continuous improvement of Group standards and priorities.
Governance, Reporting, Budget & Financial Accountability
The Group CIO ensures:
- Structured budget planning, financial steering and cost control across the full T&DS scope, in coordination with Group Finance.
- Definition and management of multi-year technology and data investment plans.
- Ongoing budget monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis, relating both operational and capital expenditure, as well as cash planning.
- Transparent allocation of costs between Group, regions and countries.
- Definition, operation and follow-up of the Group chargeback model, ensuring clear principles for cost allocation and service pricing.
- Regular monitoring of consumption, cost drivers and efficiency.
- Constructive dialogue with RCIOs, Country CIOs and business stakeholders on usage, optimisation and value.
- Regular reporting to the Group Executive Committee (GEC), alongside the Chief Transformation Officer.
- A 3-year rolling roadmap aligned to strategic priorities.
- Key risks related to data, cybersecurity and operational resilience.
- Structured updates to the Group Governing Board (GGB), as required.
Leadership and People Management
The CIO is leading and developing a high-performing T&DS team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and creative problem-solving:
- Driving change and transformation initiatives to support ongoing organizational growth and evolution.
- Managing retention, productivity and effectiveness of team members.
- Encouraging the development of internal IT profiles within the firm so that they add the greatest possible value to the organization, technology-wise.
Through this operating, financial and governance model, the Group CIO ensures that Group consistency, financial discipline and local relevance reinforce each other, enabling the firm to progress collectively toward its Data-Powered Organization ambition under Stellar.
We are seeking an innovative and strategic CIO with the ability to have hands-on control of situations and projects while governing the IT decisions. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of aligning technology initiatives with business objectives, improving operational efficiency, and driving growth through technological innovation. Strong leadership skills are essential to effectively manage and inspire cross-functional teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree with an IT specialisation is preferred.
- Fluent in English and at least another language.
- Over 20 years of experience leading digital transformation, cybersecurity, and IT operations in an international environment.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale, globally distributed IT operations, architecture, and business systems.
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Broad technical expertise across networking, datacentre technologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), Microsoft ecosystem, and enterprise applications.
- Exceptional vendor management, negotiation, and contract oversight skills.
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL.
- Strong communication, influence, and stakeholder management capabilities across all levels of the organization.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Deep business acumen with a focus on organizational challenges and change leadership.
- Strong financial (P&L) and analytical skills.
- Team player and able to work collaboratively with others and leverage their skills.
