  • Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement the company's HSE strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish annual HSE goals, KPIs and improvement plans.
  • Lead the continual improvement of HSE management systems.
  • Promote a culture where safety, health and environmental are core operational values.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on strategic HSE matters.
  • Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain certification and compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and other applicable standards.
  • Monitor emerging legislative requirements and implement necessary changes across the business.
  • Oversee regulatory inspections, audits and external assessments.
  • Risk Management
  • Lead the development and implementation of risk management processes.
  • Ensure effective hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures are implemented.
  • Review significant operational and project risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are established.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and business continuity planning activities.
  • Incident & Investigation Management
  • Oversee investigation of significant incidents, near misses and environmental events.
  • Ensure robust root cause analyses are completed and corrective actions implemented.
  • Monitor trends and identify opportunities for preventative improvements.
  • Report significant incidents to senior management and regulatory bodies where required.
  • Leadership & People Development
  • Lead, coach and develop the HSE team.
  • Build HSE capability throughout the organisation through training, mentoring and awareness programmes.
  • Support managers in fulfilling their health and safety responsibilities.
  • Promote employee engagement and participation in HSE initiatives.
  • Operational Support
  • Partner with operational and project teams to ensure HSE requirements are incorporated into all business activities.
  • Provide oversight of contractor management and supplier HSE performance.
  • Review project-specific HSE plans, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Support operational excellence initiatives through the integration of HSE best practices.
  • Performance Management & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain HSE performance metrics.
  • Report HSE performance trends, risks and improvement opportunities to the HSQE Manager.
  • Benchmark business performance against industry standards and best practice.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions arising from audits, inspections and performance reviews.
  • Environmental & Sustainability
  • Lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor environmental impacts and performance indicators.
  • Support carbon reduction, waste minimisation and environmental improvement programmes.
  • Promote responsible environmental practices across all operations.
