Fortus Recruitment are currently working on behalf of a Local Authority. My client is looking to appoint an experienced Passive Fire Surveyor to support a large-scale fire compliance programme across the North West. The project consists of over 20 sites of varying sizes, predominantly within the healthcare sector, located across Stoke, Manchester, Preston, Liverpool, and up towards the lower Lake District.

You will be responsible for carrying out detailed surveys of fire doors, fire stopping systems, and compartmentation within occupied buildings. This will include both intrusive and non-intrusive inspections, identifying defects and compliance issues, and producing comprehensive digital reports.

  • Conducting fire door and fire stopping surveys across multiple sites.
  • Identifying breaches in compartmentation and non-compliant installations.
  • Producing detailed reports, photographic evidence, and remedial schedules using digital platforms such as Bolster.
  • Reviewing manufacturer details and ensuring installations align with tested solutions and industry standards.
  • Working closely with project teams and senior management throughout the survey programme.
  • Ensuring all findings comply with current fire safety legislation and passive fire protection standards.

Strong technical knowledge of passive fire protection, compartmentation, fire doors, and penetration sealing is required. Previous experience carrying out passive fire surveys, compartmentation surveys, or fire door inspections is essential. Relevant qualifications such as FDIS, ASFP, or Level 2/3 Passive Fire Protection certifications are preferred. Experience using reporting software such as Bolster, One Trace, or similar digital systems is also necessary.

A good understanding of passive fire products, manufacturers, and tested details is important. A full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across the North West region is required, along with a CSCS Card. Experience working within healthcare, social housing, education, or other occupied environments is advantageous. The ability to accurately measure fire doors and interpret door schedules is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business delivering a significant fire compliance programme across a diverse property portfolio. Please send your CV for consideration or call the office and ask Ella for more details.
