Fortus Recruitment are a recruitment company that specialise in placing people within the repairs & maintenance industry. We are currently looking for an experienced Fire Compliance Surveyor to join a growing team working on projects across London. This role will focus heavily on compartmentation surveys within loft spaces, ensuring buildings meet current fire safety and compliance standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in passive fire protection, fire stopping, or building surveying who is confident working in loft environments and producing detailed compliance reports.

As a Fire Compliance Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out compartmentation surveys in loft spaces across residential and commercial properties throughout London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct compartmentation surveys within loft spaces
  • Identify breaches in fire walls, ceilings, cavity barriers, and fire stopping
  • Inspect fire-stopping around pipes, cables, and ductwork
  • Assess compliance with current fire safety regulations and Approved Document B
  • Produce detailed survey reports including:
  • Photographs of defects
  • Descriptions of issues
  • Recommended remedial actions
  • Use One Trace recording system (advantageous)
  • Liaise with housing associations, contractors, and site operatives
  • Carry out re-inspections and sign off compliant works
  • Requirements
    • Experience in fire compartmentation, surveying, passive fire protection, or construction
    • Strong understanding of fire safety regulations and compliance
    • Ability to read building drawings and compartmentation plans
    • Excellent attention to detail and reporting skills
    • Comfortable working in loft spaces and at height
    • Full UK driving licence preferred
