We’re growing at Fortress Safety, and we’re excited to be recruiting a Technical Support Engineer / Product Support Engineer (Industrial / Automation / Machinery Safety) to join our Application & Technical Support team based at our Wolverhampton HQ. Please note this is not IT / Tech Support.

The role
As a Technical Support Engineer, you’ll play a key role in supporting customers throughout both pre‑sale and post‑sale stages of our Interlocking products, with a strong focus on post‑sale technical support. You’ll help customers troubleshoot products, provide installation guidance and resolve technical challenges efficiently, ensuring an excellent customer experience.
What you’ll be doing
- Build strong technical knowledge of Fortress products, user requirements and relevant standards
- Support customers via phone and inbox, meeting agreed KPIs and response targets
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical and product‑related queries
- Work closely with colleagues to continuously improve support processes
- Partner with Sales to help customers correctly specify and integrate products into automation systems
- Support customer engagement through webinars, training sessions and trade shows
What we’re looking for
- 1–3 years’ experience in technical support, field service or an engineering‑based role
- Exposure to industrial safety systems, PLCs, HMIs or automation technologies (hands‑on experience is a plus)
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Clear and confident communication skills, written and verbal
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross‑functionally
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience gained on the job)
