Fortress Recruit is supporting a growing Defence manufacturing business in their search for a Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join their team, based in Poole. This role offers the chance to take ownership of full lifecycle electronic and electrical design projects, contributing directly to innovative, high-performance products used in demanding environments. You’ll be responsible for developing robust and efficient electronic hardware solutions from concept through to manufacturing. Key responsibilities will include: Developing electronic hardware designs based on functional and technical requirements, with a focus on power supply, electronics hardware and electrical power distribution Creating schematics and PCB layouts using industry-standard CAD tools Writing technical documentation including specifications, BOMs, and test plans Collaborating with software and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration Supporting validation, testing, and design reviews across the project lifecycle Investigating obsolescence issues and maintaining support for legacy systems To succeed in this role, you will have: A qualification in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (HNC or above) Strong experience in electronic and electrical hardware development Solid experience and knowledge of power supply and electrical power distribution Familiarity with full product development lifecycle, from concept to production Confidence working on both new development and supporting existing designs The role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative, well-established engineering team working on technically interesting products in a supportive environment.
