Fortress Recruit are now looking for an experienced Logistics & Supply Chain Manager on behalf of a leading defence engineering and technology business, to support the delivery of complex engineering programmes within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a supply chain professional to take ownership of demand planning, procurement, logistics and S&OP activities, ensuring customer requirements are translated into effective supply strategies and operational delivery plans.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Supply Chain, Logistics and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities to support customer delivery and business objectives
- Develop demand forecasts, supply plans and inventory strategies in collaboration with sales and operational teams
- Manage procurement, supplier performance and material availability to support production requirements
- Lead and develop supply chain, logistics and planning teams, creating a high performing and collaborative culture
- Build strong cross functional relationships across operations, sales, procurement and logistics to improve delivery performance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, cost, quality and operational effectiveness
- Identify supply chain risks, analyse performance data and implement improvement strategies
- Support ERP/MRP optimisation and ensure compliance with business and industry standards
To be considered for this role, you'll have:
- Significant experience within Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics and Demand Planning functions
- Experience leading or owning Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes
- Strong people management and team development experience with the ability to create high performing teams
- Experience within a regulated manufacturing, engineering, defence, aerospace or marine environment
- Strong supplier management and purchasing experience
- Knowledge of ERP and MRP systems, with SAP experience (highly advantageous)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the business
- Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands on operational involvement
- IOSH qualification or equivalent health and safety awareness would be advantageous
- Eligibility to obtain SC Clearance (5 years' UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement)
The business is seeking someone who can bring people together, create alignment across departments and build a collaborative, high performing team culture while maintaining a strong focus on operational delivery. The role is permanent, full-time 37.5 hours a week, offering a salary of £70-75K plus bonus and benefits. Based near Portsmouth with occasional UK and international travel, there is also flexibility for some remote working.
