Fortress Recruit is supporting a leading engineering organisation in their search for an experienced
HV Electrical Engineering Consultant
to undertake a 6-month assignment at their facility in Bedford. The assignment will focus on providing specialist engineering expertise across high voltage electrical infrastructure, plant maintenance, asset management and engineering governance. The successful consultant will be responsible for assessing existing arrangements, providing technical recommendations and supporting the delivery of practical engineering improvements across the site's electrical systems and associated plant. Key responsibilities will include:
Assessing existing HV electrical infrastructure and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices and operational performance. Providing specialist technical expertise on high voltage electrical systems, associated infrastructure and maintenance requirements. Reviewing existing asset management arrangements, maintenance strategies and engineering governance processes. Developing practical recommendations to address identified engineering risks, maintenance gaps and asset management issues. Providing technical guidance and specialist support to the site's electrical engineering team. Assessing maintenance requirements across associated plant and equipment, including hydraulics, compressors and supporting infrastructure. Reviewing engineering documentation, maintenance procedures and asset records to identify areas requiring improvement. Advising on appropriate engineering solutions, maintenance priorities and measures to support the safe and reliable operation of site assets. Delivering agreed engineering outputs and recommendations within the six month assignment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Extensive experience in HV electrical engineering within an industrial, manufacturing, research or complex engineering environment. Strong technical knowledge of high voltage electrical infrastructure, including relevant plant, distribution systems and associated equipment. Proven experience in asset management, maintenance engineering, engineering governance or infrastructure reliability. The ability to assess complex engineering challenges and develop practical, technically sound solutions. Experience providing specialist engineering consultancy or technical leadership within an established engineering team. A broad understanding of industrial plant and equipment, ideally including hydraulics, compressors and associated mechanical systems. The ability to work autonomously, manage technical priorities and deliver agreed outcomes within defined timescales. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with engineering and operational stakeholders.
This is a 6-month contract opportunity, based five days per week on site in Bedford. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be British born and eligible to meet UK Eyes Only security requirements.
