Fortress Recruit are working with a leading defence engineering and manufacturing organisation in the recruitment of a Lead Product Support Engineer to join their growing Production Engineering team. As Lead Product Support Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across manufacturing, supporting complex electro-mechanical products throughout the production lifecycle. You will act as the key escalation point for product and process issues, ensuring efficient assembly, robust performance, and continuous improvement across quality, cost, and delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the Product Support Engineering team
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for assembly and manufacturing issues
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis across production
  • Collaborate with design, quality, supply chain, and operations teams
  • Support supplier discussions around manufacturability and components
  • Drive continuous improvement across quality, efficiency, and output
  • Support new product introduction and lifecycle engineering activities

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, production, or assembly engineering
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills within electro-mechanical environments
  • Experience using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CREO
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels
  • Experience working in complex or regulated engineering environments
  • Eligibility for SC clearance (5 years' UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement)
