Fortress Recruit are working with a leading defence engineering and manufacturing organisation in the recruitment of a Production Engineer to join their growing Engineering team. You will play a key role in developing and improving manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement across production.
Key responsibilities:
- Support new product introduction ensuring design for manufacture principles are achieved
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes, systems, and work instructions
- Design fixtures and tooling to support assembly and production activities
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, cost, and efficiency
- Carry out root cause analysis and resolve production and process issues
- Conduct PFMEA activities and support process validation
- Reduce waste and improve productivity using lean manufacturing principles
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams
- Provide technical support and training to production where required
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and lean principles
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI)
- Ability to carry out root cause analysis and problem-solving activities
- Understanding of PFMEA, process improvement, and standardisation
- Experience using CAD tools
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Relevant engineering qualification (HND, degree, or equivalent experience)
- Eligibility for SC clearance (5 years' UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement)
