Fortress Recruit is working with a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation in Poole to appoint an experienced Contract Logistics Lead to oversee a major internal stores and logistics relocation for a 3-month project. This is a hands-on, short-term contract opportunity where you will take ownership of a phased site move involving stores, goods-in, environmental and marketing functions, ensuring the successful transfer of stock, materials, equipment and personnel into a newly expanded facility. This is not a project management role; you'll be expected to actively lead from the front, working alongside facilities and operational teams to ensure the project is delivered efficiently with a hands-on approach and with minimal disruption to business operations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and coordinating the phased relocation of stores, inventory and operational departments between facilities
- Planning and executing stock transfers
- Managing the movement of goods-in operations into the new facility
- Organising and optimising storage layouts within a newly expanded stores area
- Coordinating van transfers and material movements between sites throughout the project
- Identifying and resolving logistical challenges as they arise to keep the project on schedule
- Maintaining accurate stock control and inventory integrity throughout the transition
- Providing regular progress updates to management and key stakeholders
- Taking ownership of the project with minimal supervision and driving activities through to completion
To be considered you will have:
- Previous experience within logistics, stores, warehousing, supply chain or materials management environments
- Experience coordinating site moves, warehouse relocations, stock transfers or similar logistics projects
- A highly organised and proactive approach with the ability to work autonomously
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Experience managing inventory and material movements within engineering, manufacturing, defence or industrial environments
- A hands-on attitude with a willingness to be actively involved in the physical aspects of the move where required
- Experience gained within military logistics, stores, supply chain or operational support functions would be highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence is required
- Eligibility for SC clearance (5 years' UK residency with no visa or sponsorship requirement)
This is a short-term contract opportunity for someone looking for a varied assignment where they can make an immediate impact. The role would particularly suit an individual with a military logistics background, someone transitioning between permanent positions, or a candidate seeking valuable project-based experience within a fast-paced engineering environment. This is a contract role expected to last approximately 3 months and is based full time (37 hours a week) on-site in Poole, Dorset. An immediate start is preferred to support the first phase of the relocation project.
