Fortress Recruit is supporting a Defence Engineering organisation seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to deliver and support the design of complex engineered products. You will work across concept, detailed design, and documentation, ensuring technical quality, compliance, and efficient delivery.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver electrical design work to meet customer, industry, and internal standards.
  • Produce accurate, compliant design outputs on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and colleagues on design, verification, and manufacturing.
  • Support new business with technical input and documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Report on design progress, technical status, and resource utilisation.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure successful project and product delivery.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Engineering degree, or HNC/HND with relevant experience.
  • Approximately 5 years' experience in electrical/electronic design in an engineering environment.
  • Experience with CAD tools, MRP/ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Professional registration (IEng or working towards) - desirable.
  • Experience with ruggedised or complex engineering systems - desirable.
  • Eligibility for SC Clearance (5 years' UK residency with no visa or sponsorship requirement).

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Poole, with occasional travel requirements, and flexible working opportunity.
