Fortrea is a global clinical research company with a small in-house legal team. Our external client base is large pharmaceutical companies, small biotechs and specialist firms. Our in-house team supports all aspects of an in-house legal team including commercial contract, privacy, employment, corporate, compliance and litigation support. Our culture centers around four pillars: Forward Together, Own It, Uphold Integrity and Respect People.
This is Fortrea’s inaugural Traineeship Program which will provide you with opportunities to be involved in international work. Our program has 4 seats and trainees will have 1 seat in each of the 4 areas: commercial contracting, corporate, privacy and compliance (investigations and third party risk management).

This is a full-time traineeship for a two-year fixed term contract.
Location: Central Belt. The positions are fully remote with a requirement to meet face to face with training supervisor on a monthly basis.
Our trainees can expect to be involved in a broad range of work throughout their traineeship at a local and international level, including, but not limited to
- Action Line Investigation support
- Affidavit drafting
- Support internal meetings
- Support Compliance Liaisons
- Contractual language drafting and review
- Support Regulatory document filings
- End User Access Terms review
This offers our trainees experience in working in an international organization and with colleagues across our global offices supported by our experienced Scottish solicitors.
Requirements
- Scottish LLB and Scottish Diploma in Legal Practice.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to work on own initiative.
We would welcome candidates who have a particular interest in life sciences and who have previous office working experience although this is not essential.
