Fortrea\’s cutting-edge Clinical Research Unit in Leeds is the crown jewel of our global operations. Dedicated to Phase I clinical trials, this 65,000 ft² facility is where life-saving medicines begin their journey.
This is where you come in, because we are growing our investigational research pharmacy team and are looking for our next Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technical Officers.
- Full-time, permanent. 37 working hours per week, Monday to Friday with very occasional weekend shift (typically under 4 hours and compensated with flexi time or overtime pay.)
You’ll be part of a team that asks one crucial question: will this new medicine be safe?
At our new cGMP pharmacy, you will manufacture new sterile and non-sterile drug products with the clinical trial participants next door! You will witness firsthand the dosing and safety as they are being investigated in real time… when the drug you worked with gets approved, you know you´ll touch many patient´s lives around the world.
Who You Are
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council in the UK, Pharmacy Technical Officers (GCSEs (Level 2); NVQ Level 2 desirable)
For both roles, you bring a proven track record of working in a fast-paced and demanding hospital or industrial pharmacy setting,
AND/OR
- Have experience working in cGMP, GCP and/or GLP environments
A big PLUS: hands-on experience in sterile product manipulation in clean rooms.

Ability to live and work in the UK (we cannot sponsor for this role)
ON A NORMAL DAY, YOU WILL…
Learn. And grow. No two days will be the same; and this is because you will be exposed to a wide variety of Therapeutic Indications and study types (ascending dose, first-in-human, food effect, drug to drug interactions, etc.)
Regardless Of Your Projects, Every Day You Will Support The Pharmacist With Inventory, Use, Supply, Storage, And Disposal Of Investigational Drug Products. In Particular
- Gain a profound understanding of all allocated protocols regarding Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) handling.
- Reception, storage, packaging and disposition of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and IMP
- Drug Production: produce doses for phase I human clinical trials in a research setting working under cGMPs and GCPs.
The above is achieved via thorough maintenance and control of complete Pharmacy Inventory Management records with respect of the IMP/ API, and ensuring the continued supply of any pharmacy stock items.
