Have your first 1–2 years on a hospital ward not turned out the way you expected? At Fortrea’s Early Clinical Research Unit in Drapers Yard, Leeds, you can use that hard‑earned experience in a different way, helping shape new medical treatments while still making a direct impact on patient care. You will work in our modern 65,000 ft², 100‑bed clinic, only 7 minutes from the train station. It is here where life‑saving medicines begin their journey. As a nurse, you will be part of those early steps, supporting research right when new treatments are first explored.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver safe, high quality care to clinical trial participants.
  • Work autonomously to carry out procedures such as cannulation, bloods, ECGs, observations and medicines administration.
  • Monitor participant wellbeing and document any adverse events.
  • Obtain informed consent and guide participants through study procedures.
  • Record accurate data in electronic systems to support study quality.
  • Learn how research studies are planned and conducted.
  • Develop your skills until you are responsible for your own studies.

What You Bring

  • NMC‑registered nurse.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced ward environment (such as A&E, surgery, oncology or similar), consistent with a Band 5 nurse who has progressed beyond the newly qualified stage.
  • Confidence working independently with core clinical procedures, developed through hands‑on ward experience rather than training‑only exposure.
  • A genuine interest in clinical research and how new medicines are developed.
  • Comfort using electronic health records and clinical systems.

Please note that this position requires existing right‑to‑work status in the UK, as visa sponsorship cannot be provided.
