At Fortrea’s Early Clinical Research Unit in Drapers Yard, Leeds, you can use that hard-earned experience in a different way, helping shape new medical treatments while still making a direct impact on patient care. You will work in our modern 65,000 ft², 100 plus bed clinic (only seven minutes from the train station.) It is here where life-saving medicines begin their journey. As a nurse, you will be part of those early steps, supporting research right when new treatments are first explored.

What you will do:

  • Work autonomously to carry out procedures such as cannulation, bloods, ECGs, observations and medicines administration.
  • Monitor participant wellbeing and document any adverse events.
  • Obtain informed consent and guide participants through study procedures.

  • Learn how research studies are planned and conducted.

What you bring:

  • Experience in a fast‑paced ward environment (such as A&E, surgery, oncology or similar), consistent with a Band 5 nurse who has progressed beyond the newly qualified stage.
  • Confidence working independently with core clinical procedures, developed through hands‑on ward experience rather than training‑only exposure.
  • A genuine interest in clinical research and how new medicines are developed.
  • Comfort using electronic health records and clinical systems.

Please note that this position requires existing right‑to‑work status in the UK, as visa sponsorship cannot be provided.

Competitive salary with enhanced compensation or flexi time for weekend, twilight and night shifts. Full time, permanent role, 37 hours per week. Life, accidental death and disability cover, income protection, pension and medical insurance.

  • One of the best training programmes in the industry and real growth paths, including opportunities to move into areas such as international project management.
  • A modern, purpose built research environment in Drapers Yard that makes it easier to focus on learning, teamwork and high quality care.
