Fortrea's Clinical Research Unit in Leeds is where life-saving medicines begin their journey. You’ll be part of a team that asks one crucial question: will this new medicine be safe? If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, speaking with people and contributing to meaningful research while keeping flexibility in your schedule, this could be a great fit.
This is a Bank (0-hours) position, where work is offered based on clinic demand. Office-based job at our Drapers Yard Clinical Research Unit, just a 7-minute walk from the train station. Shifts are scheduled Monday to Sunday and may include weekends, twilight shifts and night shifts, based on availability. During busier periods, you could work up to 37 hours per week; however, the number of hours offered can vary from week to week depending on operational needs.
This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in a clinical research environment, supporting important studies while working flexibly around other commitments.
WHO YOU ARE
Ideally, you bring some experience in a laboratory setting and are familiar with basic laboratory techniques, procedures and equipment, but you don’t need a scientific background or a degree. If you have great attention to detail and are practical, curious and keen to learn, we´ll provide full training to develop the technical skills you need.
You will need to bring:
- A good standard of general education, including Maths & English
- The ability to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
ON A NORMAL DAY, YOU WILL…
- Conduct sample processing and dispatch according to study specific instructions and to the highest possible quality, specially: blood, urine, faecal and vomit samples, and process and dispatch of lab´s safety samples
- Deliver quality data and document results from processing on time, in strict accordance with relevant protocols, Lab Manuals, SOPs, and in compliance with ICH/GCP
- Recognize deviations from expected results (as per protocol or Lab Manual) and follows up appropriately.
- Assist with Study Set up (tubes, labels, right chemicals, etc)
- Perform inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations
- Handle hazardous materials, reagents and chemicals in a safe manner in accordance with laboratory policy and procedure
- Maintenance of equipment: wash laboratory glassware and maintain general laboratory cleanliness
