Role Overview
We are seeking an
Assistant Network Engineer
to support the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of network infrastructure. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational networking knowledge who want to gain hands-on experience in enterprise or MSP environments while working under the guidance of senior network engineers.
You will assist in ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing network connectivity across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Network Support & Operations
- Assist in monitoring LAN, WAN, and wireless networks
- Support troubleshooting of network connectivity and performance issues
- Respond to network incidents and escalate complex issues appropriately
- Perform routine network health checks and maintenance tasks
Configuration & Maintenance Support
- Assist with configuration of switches, routers, and firewalls (under supervision)
- Support IP addressing, VLANs, and basic routing tasks
- Help manage VPNs and remote access solutions
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventories
- Work closely with IT support, infrastructure, and security teams
- Support change management and implementation activities
Learning & Development
- Learn network best practices, security standards, and troubleshooting techniques
- Participate in training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Continuously develop technical networking skills
Required Skills & Qualifications
Basic understanding of:
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- LAN/WAN and wireless networking concepts
Familiarity with:
- Network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls β basic level)
- Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Strong interest in networking and infrastructure
- Good troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
Certifications (Preferred / Advantage)
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
β preferred - Or equivalent entry-level networking certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+)
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor\βs degree in:
- IT
- Computer Science
- Networking
- Or a related technical field
