At Fortnum & Mason, we pride ourselves on exceptional standards, timeless tradition, and a spirit of innovation. We are seeking a creative, collaborative and enterprising Event Manager to join our Hospitality Events Team, on a 12 month fixed term contract. Our Head Office is in the heart of Piccadilly and occupies the 5th & 6th floor of our beautiful flagship store. This central London location offers so much to explore including restaurants, bars, cultural sites, shopping and more, and only a short walk from Green Park Tube Station and plenty of bus stops.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to sell & deliver exceptional Private, Corporate & Internal Event experiences across our Piccadilly spaces. From business lunches and tea parties to weddings and private suppers, you will help to create outstanding experiences and moments that bring our purpose, We Make Joy, to life every day. You will be responsible for raising awareness of the venue, building strong relationships with internal and external suppliers, whilst working closely with guests to create proposals and planning all details whilst remaining in line with the brand principles.

With a busy calendar of overlapping events, you will balance administrative and operational responsibilities while maintaining the highest standards of service. Responsibilities
  • Sales and client management: Raise awareness of the Private Dining Spaces, seeking out new private & corporate clients.
  • Keep up to date with event trends and competitor analysis.
  • Co-ordinate events from initial enquiry to completion.
  • Handle all client enquiries, responding to requests in a timely manner, pro-actively following up and converting in line with targets.
  • Up-sell products and services where possible.
  • Work with client and Fortnum's chefs to plan menus.
  • Host or support any meeting and/or menu tastings for upcoming events.
  • Management of day-to-day administrative duties.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across multiple internal stakeholder departments to ensure events are delivered to an exceptional standard.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational protocols, processes, and ways of working.
  • Work collaboratively with external partners and suppliers, fostering positive relationships and ensuring deliverables, timelines, and standards are met or exceeded.
Operational delivery
  • Ensure all event collateral is distributed within the store and other departments on a weekly basis.
  • Keep Private Dining & Events reservations details updated and collect all information on time.
  • Conduct show arounds in a timely and professional manner, by sharing all relevant information.
  • Ensure that menus & place cards for each event are printed.
  • Create POs and ordering of all third-party demands.
  • Work closely with senior chefs and all operational staff to ensure exceptional customer experience throughout all events.
  • Coordinate operational aspects of event delivery, collaborating closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure seamless execution.
  • Ensure all operations are executed with sustainability at the forefront of our thinking.
  • Work with the Events General Manager to set KPIs and targets for the year.
  • Assist in driving adherence to company policies, controls and standards.
Skills
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proven experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering events from concept through to execution.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrable customer-facing experience.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and results-driven, with a strong desire to succeed both individually and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and high standards across all aspects of work.
  • High level of computer literacy, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Commercially aware and sales-focused.
  • A genuine passion for the brand, with the ability to always act as a brand ambassador.
  • Strong understanding of the premium/luxury marketplace and the expectations of high-value customers.
  • Be resilient and be able to manage up.
  • Problem-solving ability, to resolve issues as they arise.
  • A friendly but professional work ethic, with enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
  • An interest in current food & beverage trends.
