As a Material Handler you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and control of materials within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or distribution center. The role ensures that materials and products are received, stored, issued, and transported accurately to support operational requirements and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and shipments against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Store materials in designated locations following inventory control procedures.
- Pick, pack, and issue materials to production.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and lifting devices safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Conduct stock counts and participate in cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Ensure materials are correctly labelled, identified, and traceable.
- Load and unload vehicles while complying with safety regulations.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain clean and organized.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, and safety concerns to supervisors.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse efficiency and accuracy.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or material control environments.
- Knowledge of inventory management and stock control processes.
- Ability to operate forklifts desirable but not essential.
- Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
- Familiarity with ERP/WMS/Oracle systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of health, safety, and quality requirements.
