Job Title

Calibration Technician

Responsible to

ECAL CAL Cell/Laboratory Supervisor.

Summary of Main Purpose of Role

  • To carry out the routine calibration work on Service customer’s returned equipment and Sales orders as-and-when supplied by Production.
  • To Carry out performance checks and rarely but minor repairs on customer units.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical
  • To perform the routine calibrations on customer equipment sent in for calibration.
  • To perform the routine calibrations on Sales/Production orders as-and-when supplied.
  • To carry out performance checks and rarely but minor repairs on customer units.
  • To use their knowledge of calibration to determine when a customer’s unit is out of specification or showing signs of being faulty.
  • To ensure that all test or calibration equipment that is being used is within its calibration period and at optimal working condition before starting any calibration work.
  • To work through the daily backlog priorities unless there is a request to change priorities by the Cell/Laboratory Supervisor and/or UK Lab Manager.
  • To regularly check the environmental monitor within the area in which they are working and raise any issues related to the environmental conditions with the Cell/Laboratory Supervisor and Head / Deputy Head of Lab (Technical).
  • To perform monthly checks on the assigned Test-Stations.
  • To assist the Head or Deputy Head of Lab (Technical) with any investigation work, if requested, but with alignment with Cell/Laboratory Supervisor and/or UK Lab Manager.
  • To assist the other Lab Calibration Technicians with any technical and measurement related queries or problems (Open collaboration).
  • To support and assist the Head / Deputy Head of Lab with the daily maintenance of all test and calibration equipment.
  • Prepare, check and finalize the Calibration Certificates as per Standard Work without mistake, repeatedly.
  • Communication
  • To ensure all activities within the scope of the above duties are regularly reported to the Cell/ Laboratory Supervisor and/or UK Lab Manager.
  • To report any non-conforming work to the Cell/Laboratory Supervisor or Lab Admin support team Manager via Teams, Email, or Oracle notes.
  • To Report any problems or suspected anomalies observed within the Laboratory or the facility’s In-house equipment involved in the calibration process to the Cell/ Laboratory Supervisor and Head / Deputy Head of Lab.
  • To report any miss handling of Test or calibration equipment, either deliberate or accidental, to the Cell/ Laboratory Supervisor and Head or Deputy Head of Lab.
  • General
  • Always carry out all work in the Laboratory with an emphasis on “Quality”.
