A global battery manufacturer is developing a large-scale gigaplant at the Gravity Smart Campus near Bridgwater, Somerset — a £4 billion investment targeting 40 GWh annual battery production capacity, creating up to 4,000 high-skilled jobs, and supporting over half of the UK's future automotive battery demand.
As Electrical Project Manager, you'll represent the client on-site during the construction and installation of all electrical infrastructure. You'll oversee HV/LV systems, substations, switchgear, power distribution, controls, lighting, and fire alarms — ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the client's on-site representative for electrical construction and installation
- Manage contractor performance, daily site activities, and interface coordination
- Oversee installation of substations, switchgear, power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and controls
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Ensure compliance with BS ****, UK building regulations, and safety standards
- Conduct inspections, acceptance testing, and manage non-conformances
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, automation, and commissioning teams
- Provide weekly progress reports and maintain accurate site documentation
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related discipline
- 8–10 years' experience managing electrical construction in industrial/manufacturing projects
- Proven experience with HV/LV systems, plant utilities, controls, and commissioning
- Experience in gigafactory, automotive, energy, or high-tech projects advantageous
- Strong stakeholder and contractor management skills
- Proficient with MS Project and construction management systems
- ECS / CSCS and SMSTS required; Chartered Engineer (CEng) preferred
