The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Recruitment Consultant to join our growing team and take ownership of one of our specialist market across construction, engineering, mission critical, power, utilities, infrastructure and real estate. This role is suited to a commercially minded 360 recruiter who can build and manage a high-value desk, develop trusted client relationships, identify senior talent and advise both clients and candidates with confidence. You will have the autonomy to shape your market, create long-term client partnerships and deliver permanent recruitment solutions that are consultative, credible and commercially effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a specialist recruitment desk, including client development, candidate generation, vacancy qualification, sourcing, screening, shortlisting, offer management and post-placement aftercare.
  • Develop and maintain senior client relationships by understanding hiring needs, project drivers, organisational culture, budget requirements and long-term workforce plans.
  • Develop trusted candidate relationships through regular communication, accurate role briefings, interview preparation and constructive feedback.
  • Carry out proactive market mapping, direct approach, referrals, networking, database search, social media sourcing and targeted talent pipelining across specialist technical markets.
  • Maintain accurate records, pipeline visibility and activity data to support consistent delivery, forecasting and performance review.
  • Provide clients and candidates with consultative market intelligence, including salary benchmarking, availability of talent, competitor movement, hiring trends and practical advice on attracting senior technical professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share leads, market insight, candidate intelligence and best practice.
  • Identify and convert business development opportunities through warm leads, referrals, retained or exclusive search conversations, targeted outreach and consistent market engagement.
  • Support a high-performance culture by sharing insight, contributing to best practice and, where appropriate, mentoring less experienced consultants.
  • Meet agreed activity, revenue, quality and service targets while protecting Fortiva’s reputation and building a sustainable, profitable desk.

Your Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • Proven experience in a 360 recruitment, agency, executive search or specialist recruitment environment, ideally with a track record of building client relationships and delivering permanent and or contract placements.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen carefully, ask effective questions and explain information clearly.
  • Evidence of achieving targets, managing a live pipeline, generating revenue and working with strong commercial accountability.
  • Confidence engaging with clients, candidates and senior stakeholders across different levels of technical and commercial seniority.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong business development instincts, with the ability to identify hiring opportunities, open new conversations and convert market knowledge into commercial outcomes.
  • Credibility to advise clients on recruitment strategy, talent attraction, candidate availability, salary expectations and realistic hiring timelines.
  • Curiosity about technical markets and the ability to learn sector terminology, project drivers and candidate motivations.
  • A professional, ethical and consultative approach to recruitment, with the judgement to balance commercial performance with long-term relationships.
