An exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s most significant clean energy and advanced manufacturing projects. A global battery manufacturing organisation is building a major gigaplant at the Gravity Smart Campus near Bridgwater, Somerset — part of a multi-phase development worth around £4 billion, targeting 40 GWh annual battery capacity and expected to create up to 4,000 high‑skilled jobs.

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will represent the client on‑site, overseeing all mechanical and building services installations. You’ll ensure delivery of HVAC, process utilities, chilled water, compressed air, and fire protection systems — safely, efficiently, and in line with design, quality, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the client’s on‑site representative for mechanical works
  • Oversee daily mechanical construction activities, quality, and contractor performance
  • Manage installation of HVAC, process utilities, fire protection, and mechanical plant systems
  • Review designs, specifications, technical submissions, and installation methods
  • Ensure compliance with UK building regulations, H&S standards, and project requirements
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, electrical, and civil teams
  • Produce regular site reports, highlighting progress, issues, risks, and solutions

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar
  • 8–10 years’ experience in large‑scale industrial or manufacturing construction projects
  • Strong background in mechanical/HVAC/process installation and commissioning
  • Gigafactory, automotive, pharmaceutical, or high‑tech sector experience desirable
  • Excellent stakeholder, contractor, and project coordination skills
  • Proficient with MS Project or similar tools
  • CSCS / SMSTS or equivalent safety certification preferred
