An exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s most significant clean energy and advanced manufacturing projects. A global battery manufacturing organisation is building a major gigaplant at the Gravity Smart Campus near Bridgwater, Somerset — part of a multi-phase development worth around £4 billion, targeting 40 GWh annual battery capacity and expected to create up to 4,000 high-skilled jobs.
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will represent the client on-site, overseeing all mechanical and building services installations. You’ll ensure delivery of HVAC, process utilities, chilled water, compressed air, and fire protection systems — safely, efficiently, and in line with design, quality, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the client’s on-site representative for mechanical works
- Oversee daily mechanical construction activities, quality, and contractor performance
- Manage installation of HVAC, process utilities, fire protection, and mechanical plant systems
- Review designs, specifications, technical submissions, and installation methods
- Ensure compliance with UK building regulations, H&S standards, and project requirements
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, electrical, and civil teams
- Produce regular site reports, highlighting progress, issues, risks, and solution
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar
- 8–10 years’ experience in large-scale industrial or manufacturing construction projects
- Strong background in mechanical/HVAC/process installation and commissioning
- Gigafactory, automotive, pharmaceutical, or high-tech sector experience desirable
- Excellent stakeholder, contractor, and project coordination skills
- Proficient with MS Project or similar tools
- CSCS / SMSTS or equivalent safety certification preferred
