We are seeking an experienced and passionate professional to champion paediatric and young adult care across our top class facilities. In this pivotal role, you will:
- Lead safeguarding efforts for paediatric patients and young adults at Fortius Clinic and serve as an active member of the safeguarding committee.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of governance systems within the clinic, including risk management, health and safety, and controls assurance for paediatric and young adult services.
- Design and review care pathways for paediatric and young patients.
- Act as a resource for staff, providing guidance on paediatric care, best practice, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, anaesthetists, intensivists, and CNS to ensure patients are optimised prior to admission and post-operatively.
- Provide clinical advice and education to all staff regarding paediatric outpatient and inpatient services, and contribute to systems that deliver innovative, evidence-based care.
- Support the Outpatient Sister, liaise with the pre-op lead and team, senior management, and provide visible clinical leadership at departmental level.
- Facilitate high-quality, individualised patient care for both paediatric and adult patients.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to review current practice and implement improvements to enhance the patient experience.

Education, Qualifications & Training
- Registered Nurse RSCN / RN Child Branch, with evidence of regular professional updating.
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration paediatric experience in a UK NHS hospital.
- Safeguarding Level 4 (or willingness to obtain within six months of appointment).
- PILS (Paediatric Immediate Life Support) and APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support).
- Competent in the use of Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD).
Knowledge & Experience
- Significant paediatric outpatient / inpatient experience (minimum 2 years in a UK hospital).
- Experience in independent hospitals and NHS / public hospitals.
- People management experience, including recruitment and feedback.
- Experience managing staffing, rosters, and patient flow.
- Involvement in incident investigations and managing patient concerns.
- Auditing experience and ability to feed back results.
Communication & Leadership Skills
- Strong IT skills (Word, Teams, Excel) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional and empathetic approach.
- Ability to de-escalate conflict and build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Motivated, self-directed, and able to act on own initiative.
- Positive, inspiring attitude aligned with Fortius values.
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
