We are looking for a reliable, caring, and hardworking Healthcare Assistant – Theatres to join our busy Operating Department team. This is a vital role supporting the smooth and safe running of our theatres, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care throughout their surgical journey. The Theatre Porter supports the safe and efficient running of the Operating Department by following all hospital policies, Health & Safety requirements, Fire Regulations and COSHH procedures. The role involves working closely with wards, clinical teams, and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and a well‑maintained theatre environment.
Key duties include:
- Assisting with the preparation, cleaning and turnaround of operating theatres.
- Safely transferring and positioning patients between departments.
- Supporting theatre staff with collecting and cleaning equipment.
- Managing clinical waste and maintaining clean, tidy work areas.
- Transporting patients, beds, urgent specimens, and required items between departments.
- Maintaining and cleaning theatre trolleys, tables, X‑ray aprons, and equipment.
- Reporting equipment faults and ensuring stock items (e.g., theatre pillows) are collected as needed.
- Answering telephones, assisting visiting personnel, and promoting good teamwork.
- Supporting nurses with patient handling tasks once trained.
