Assist with room turnaround: remove waste safely, re‑stock consumables, check equipment surfaces/adjacent areas, and prepare for next case.
  • Clinical Tasks (within assessed competencies): Undertake delegated clinical procedures once trained and signed‑off (e.g., basic observations, urinalysis, point‑of‑care tests, skin prep assistance, limb prepping/draping assistance, specimen handling, runner duties). Support scrub/circulating teams: open sterile consumables correctly, manage non‑sterile tasks, and act as runner between sterile field and support areas. Assist in recovery: comfort measures, positioning, fetching equipment/fluids as directed, and handover support.
  • Documentation, Communication & Governance: Contribute to accurate, timely care records and reports; follow established communication and reporting systems (including electronic systems) and elevate promptly if concerned. Participate in regular theatre meetings, safety briefings, and debriefs; share learning and contribute to continuous improvement. Uphold Equality & Diversity standards, treating all patients and colleagues with dignity and respect.

Perform basic equipment checks within scope; report faults immediately and remove unsafe devices from use.
