Position Overview
Working in accordance with the organization’s strategic vision, core values and leadership competencies, reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Performance, this position will play a pivotal role in integrating operational excellence and sustainability through data-driven strategies within both Electric and Gas utility companies. As part of the Business Performance team, the successful candidate will be knowledgeable in the areas of business process improvement, business intelligence, change management, sustainability, and project management.
Responsibilities
- Leading initiatives to optimize processes, reduce environmental impact, and maximize resource efficiency while utilizing data-driven insights to make informed decisions.
- Collaborating closely with engineering, operations, and other business units to identify opportunities for innovation, implement sustainable practices, and use quantitative and qualitative data analytics to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Fostering a culture of operational excellence and sustainable practices while ensuring alignment with corporate strategic direction and applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Ensuring the success of Operations and Engineering business improvement projects by identifying, building, and implementing operational plans based on business area priorities.
- Providing expertise, oversight, and leadership along with technical direction to ensure alignment of business processes, systems technology, and corporate strategic initiatives.
- Responsible for the design of end-to-end business processes, including change management, and business intelligence.
- Working with Process Support team for implementation of process, technology changes, and post-implementation knowledge management.
- Creating standardized, common, integrated business processes based on business priorities, organizational capability, and budgetary requirements.
- Analyzing operational data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for innovation.
- Representing Operations and Engineering in shaping sustainability and decarbonization strategies, and driving initiatives to meet Operations and Engineering’s clean growth pathway targets.
- Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best operation practices to continually enhance our capabilities and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology, Environmental Science, Business Analytics, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of recent and relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership with focus on driving change and innovation through data-driven approaches.
- Demonstrated strong business process design knowledge and familiarity with operations and engineering sustainable practices.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks, industry standards, and utility sector practices.
- Demonstrated a proactive problem-solving and result-oriented approach, with ability to manage ambiguity and change.
- Demonstrate ability to gain the commitment of others and work effectively in a cross-disciplined team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of various applications software in use in the department and ability to become proficient with various software applications required to support operations and engineering activities.
