Position Overview
You've got an eye for the leading edge of technology and can identify potential in the latest innovations on the market to move your projects and department forward. Better yet, you know how to realize your vision and can establish detailed and intentional project plans while remaining agile to ensure your innovative initiatives go off without a hitch. With your passion for sustainability and energy efficiency, you'd be a great fit as our Conservation and Energy Management (C&EM) Project Specialist for Deep Energy Retrofits in existing buildings. Supporting the award-winning Innovative Technology program within our C&EM department, you'll assist in shaping the future of natural gas by designing and executing innovative research and pilot activities while collaborating with our internal and external stakeholders.
You know how to build solid business cases, highlighting the opportunity and feasibility of new technologies to provide grounding to the solutions you identify. When taking on projects, your proactive approaches help you get ahead of potential challenges as you tackle situations head-on with creative solutions to ensure they stay on track.
In this role, you will:
- Develop rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including our procurement and legal teams, municipalities and industry associations.
- Expand your knowledge and understanding of the latest in Demand Side Management (DSM) technology solutions, the characteristics of our customer base and our strategic vision.
- Identify, prioritize and advance new innovative technology solutions that have a significant opportunity to reduce natural gas consumption, and develop project business cases.
- Work with various departments to execute project deliverables that may include requests for proposals, legal agreements and privacy and audit requirements.
- Prioritize the development cycle and effectively execute initiatives to increase participation, customer satisfaction and streamline operations.
- Become an industry expert by developing extensive networks with our market actors and driving the adoption of DSM innovative technologies.
- Target inefficiencies to improve the execution of current and future projects.
- Identify new natural gas DSM technologies and lead its advancement in the market.
What it takes:
- A diploma in a related discipline, such as business, plus a minimum of three years of relevant experience with demonstrated success.
- A Project Management Professional or Certified Energy Manager designation is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with delivering and communicating DSM programs and experience working in a regulated utility would be an asset.
- A proven track record in designing and delivering successful multi-stakeholder projects on time, budget and within scope.
- Exceptional organizational, technical and analytical skills to support with measurement and verification activities and reporting.
- A demonstrated ability to manage a team and to work independently to successfully execute projects.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
