Job Description
My client, a leading Engineering company based in High Wycombe are looking to recruit a Sales Engineer on afull time, permanent basis.
This would suit a Design Engineer looking for a change of direction while still using their design skills.
The Sales Engineer will predominately be working with existing clients on new orders and looking for opportunities to expand within those existing customers (no cold calling or hard sales).You will be liaising with clients on project designs and assisting the project management team to convert those requirements into detailed, defined instructions and designs for the procurement and production departments. To be able to effectively gather requirements and then convert them into work instructions you will need to be proficient in SolidWorks (or similar) and AutoCAD.
This role WILL NOT involve cold calling, but rather offering technical assistance to customers, attending internal design reviews and assist in the development of design standards.
The Role
- Managing 4-5 accounts and offering technical assistance with orders.
- Participate in client interface meetings to support the sales and project engineering departments.
- Liaise with Clients on project design.
- Assist the project management team to convert client engineering requirements into detailed defined instructions and designs for the procurement and production departments.
- Provide quotation data in the form of layout drawings.
- Offer technical assistance when necessary.
- Attend internal design reviews.
- Assist in the development of design standards.
- Conduct commercial negotiations with clients.
- Process purchase orders onto MRP system.
- Conduct contract reviews.
- Participate in off-site meetings and exhibitions when required.
The Person
- Conversant with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Efficient, well organised, and able to communicate at all levels including internal and external stakeholders and very prestigious clients.
- Good writing skills, with the ability to write technical quotes for clients.
- Experience of working in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
This role would potentially suit someone from a design background who has moved into a sales or internal sales role. It may also interest design engineers that have had some client contact and are looking for a slightly different progression or direction.
Hours of work are 07.30 – 16.30 Monday to Thursday and 07.30 – 13.30 on Fridays covering 40 hours per week.
