If you’re a Software Developer who enjoys building real products rather than isolated features, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for. Imagine joining a development team where software engineers sit alongside electronics designers, embedded engineers, manufacturing specialists and product developers — all working together to turn ideas into working products quickly. This isn’t a role where you’ll be maintaining the same application year after year. You’ll work on a wide variety of projects across industrial systems, IoT, automotive technology, aerospace applications, connected products and emerging technologies. If you enjoy technical variety, practical problem-solving and seeing your software used in real-world products, you’ll feel right at home here.
The Opportunity
As a Software Developer, you’ll become an integral part of multidisciplinary project teams, contributing from requirements capture through to design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support. You’ll help create software that interacts with real hardware, cloud services and connected systems, working closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to deliver innovative products.
Projects may include:
- New product development
- Connected IoT platforms
- Industrial control systems
- Automotive and mobility applications
- Product upgrades and mid-life enhancements
- Recovery and redevelopment of legacy systems
This is a role where you’ll be trusted with meaningful engineering work from day one.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Software Developer, your responsibilities will include:
- Contributing across the full software development lifecycle
- Designing and developing applications and services using C# and .NET (4 through 10)
- Building desktop, backend and cloud-connected applications
- Applying strong object-oriented design principles
- Writing clean, maintainable and scalable code
- Producing clear technical documentation for design, testing and support
- Using software design patterns where appropriate
- Working with cloud technologies, ideally AWS, including deployment templates and integration activities
- Developing and executing unit, integration and system tests
- Participating in code reviews and quality assurance activities
- Collaborating with electronics engineers and other technical specialists
- Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Supporting continuous improvement of development tools, processes and methodologies
You’ll have the opportunity to influence technical solutions while continuing to grow your own expertise.
The Kind of Software Developer Who Thrives Here
You’re probably someone who enjoys understanding the bigger picture, not just the code in front of you. You like solving practical problems, working closely with other engineers and building software that interacts with real systems. You’re comfortable taking ownership of your work, managing your time effectively and adapting to different technical challenges. Most importantly, you enjoy learning and are motivated by variety rather than routine.
What You’ll Bring
- Around 4–6 years’ commercial C# development experience
- Strong experience with .NET 4 through 10
- Experience developing desktop, backend or service-based applications
- Strong object-oriented design skills
- Good understanding of software architecture and design processes
- Awareness of software design patterns
- A strong testing mindset
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Experience using Visual Studio 2022 or later
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working in Agile development environments
Why This Software Developer Role Stands Out
What makes this role different is the combination of software development, electronics product development and manufacturing capability all within one engineering environment. You’ll gain exposure to a much broader range of technologies than a typical software role, work closely with hardware teams, and see products move from concept through prototype to production. For developers who want technical variety, real product ownership and the chance to grow within a rapidly expanding engineering team, this is a particularly strong opportunity.
What’s On Offer: Competitive salary, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, Pension scheme, ongoing technical training and professional development, exposure to a wide range of technologies and industry sectors, the opportunity to grow into senior technical ownership within a supportive engineering team.
If you’re a Software Developer who enjoys building practical, high-quality software and wants to be part of a fast-moving product development environment, this is definitely worth exploring.
