What We’re Looking For – And Who This Suits
This role would suit someone who combines technical depth with natural leadership. You’ll likely recognise yourself in many of the points below:
- Strong PCB layout experience within a design-for-manufacture environment
- Confident using Altium, Cadence (OrCAD/Allegro), or Siemens PADS
- Experience designing high-speed digital, analogue or mixed-signal PCBs
- Knowledge of fine-pitch components (BGA, high pin-count devices)
- Solid understanding of DFM / DFT principles
- Familiarity with PCB fabrication and assembly processes
- Comfortable reviewing schematics and layout documentation
- Able to deliver to deadlines and manage workload effectively
- Experience coordinating or mentoring other designers (formally or informally)
- Organised, methodical, and calm under pressure
- Comfortable communicating with customers and internal engineering teams
- Proactive in identifying improvements to processes and standards
Highly desirable (but not essential):
- CID or CID+ certification
- Signal Integrity / Power Integrity experience
- Impedance-controlled routing
- EMC-conscious PCB design
- Experience working to IPC or ECSS standards
- Knowledge of UL, CE, FCC requirements
- Experience using PDM systems
