An established technical consultancy is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of utility-focused infrastructure schemes, with particular emphasis on water and wastewater systems. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to technically complex projects, including treatment facilities and associated pipeline networks.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing robust, compliant and sustainable engineering solutions while collaborating with internal specialists and external stakeholders across all stages of project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing civil engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment assets and supporting infrastructure
- Producing and reviewing drawings, calculations and design models in collaboration with CAD and BIM technicians
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical consistency and programme alignment
- Ensuring all design outputs meet relevant UK standards, specifications and health & safety requirements
- Providing technical support throughout feasibility, detailed design and construction phases
- Attending site visits as required to assist with surveys, inspections and technical queries
- Identifying engineering challenges and proposing efficient, cost-effective design solutions
The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation along with effective communication and coordination skills.
Requirements:- 4+ years’ experience in civil engineering design, ideally within utilities, water or environmental infrastructure
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Understanding of hydraulic design principles, reinforced concrete structures and buried pipeline systems
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or similar design tools
- Working knowledge of UK engineering codes, water-sector standards and regulatory requirements
- Ability to collaborate effectively within integrated project teams
- Detail-oriented approach with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
This role is primarily office-based in the South of England, with occasional travel to operational or construction sites as required. You will be part of a collaborative engineering team delivering infrastructure projects across the UK.
