What You'll Be Doing
As a PLC Programmer, you'll be involved throughout the lifecycle of automated production equipment, from developing new control software through to commissioning, optimisation and ongoing support. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, modifying and maintaining PLC software for automated manufacturing equipment.
- Programming and commissioning new production machinery and control system upgrades.
- Diagnosing and resolving PLC, HMI and automation faults to minimise production downtime.
- Supporting continuous improvement projects to increase productivity, reliability and efficiency.
- Working closely with electrical, mechanical and production engineers to deliver robust automation solutions.
- Assisting with machine commissioning, production line launches and customer acceptance activities.
- Maintaining PLC backups, software revisions and technical documentation.
- Supporting the integration of new equipment into existing manufacturing processes.
- Ensuring automation systems comply with safety standards and site operating procedures.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment and takes pride in solving complex automation challenges. Ideally you'll have:
- Previous experience as a PLC Programmer, Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer within automotive or another high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience programming Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal.
- Experience with HMI development and industrial communication networks.
- Excellent fault-finding skills across PLC-controlled machinery and automated production equipment.
- A solid understanding of machine safety systems and industrial automation standards.
- The ability to remain calm under production pressure while delivering effective technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production, maintenance and engineering teams.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for improving manufacturing performance and reliability.
