If you’re the person others turn to for power electronics expertise — this is where you take full ownership. This role is about leading the design and development of aerospace power conversion systems that must perform in demanding, safety-critical environments. You’ll be trusted as the technical authority — shaping architecture, making key design decisions, and ensuring systems meet both performance and regulatory expectations. If you enjoy solving complex power challenges and want to influence how systems are designed from the ground up, this role gives you that scope.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Leading detailed design and development of aerospace power conversion systems
  • Designing high-performance converters with optimised PFC, THD and inrush characteristics
  • Developing and validating control loops for both PFC and DC/DC stages
  • Designing snubber and damping networks for stability and reliability
  • Leading EMC design, including multi-stage filtering strategies
  • Performing loop stability analysis and system-level validation
  • Designing custom magnetics, including high-frequency transformers and inductors
  • Running and reviewing simulations (LTspice or equivalent) to validate design decisions
  • Ensuring compliance with aerospace standards such as DO-160, Boeing D6 and ABD0100
  • Supporting and mentoring other engineers within the team

This is a hands-on role with real technical depth — not just oversight.

The Kind of Senior / Principal Electronics Engineer Who Thrives in This Role:

You’re a Senior Electronics Engineer who is confident making technical decisions and taking accountability for them. You understand the trade-offs in power design and can balance performance, compliance and reliability. You’re also someone who can step back and see the bigger picture — guiding others, influencing direction and ensuring designs are robust from concept through to validation.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong track record designing AC/DC and DC/DC converters in demanding environments
  • Deep understanding of power electronics, including control loops and stability
  • Experience designing for EMC compliance and mitigating real-world issues
  • Knowledge of aerospace or other regulated industry standards
  • Strong experience with simulation tools (e.g. LTspice)
  • Familiarity with Altium or similar PCB design tools

Experience designing custom magnetics and working with dynamic loads will set you apart.

Why This Role Stands Out:

This role gives you real technical ownership in a highly specialised area. You’ll be working on complex, high-reliability systems where your decisions directly impact performance and compliance. It’s an opportunity to lead, influence and deepen your expertise — without stepping away from hands-on engineering.
