About The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer at Fortis, you’ll be at the forefront of applied machine learning in game development.
This role sits within AI Labs, our experimental R&D arm focused on building smarter, faster, and more creative ways to make games.
You’ll go from concept to production, partnering closely with world-class teams across the company to turn cutting-edge ML into real-world impact - and help shape what’s next in AI-powered play.
- What You’ll Achieve
- Collaborate with game, publishing, platform, and tech teams to build and scale ML-driven solutions across Fortis.
- Own the research, development, deployment, and maintenance of production-grade ML tools and systems.
- Accelerate creative and production workflows using generative models and intelligent automation.
- Help grow and shape the AI engineering discipline within Fortis Labs.
- Develop clear technical documentation to communicate decisions, trade-offs, and principles to stakeholders.
- Triage and resolve complex, high-impact issues in both experimental and live environments.
- Champion clean, scalable, and high-performance architecture aligned with Fortis-wide engineering standards.
- Push boundaries on what’s possible by testing new ideas and iterating fast.
- What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- Extensive software engineering experience, ideally with hands-on game development and production systems.
- Strong experience with Unity3D and a deep understanding of mobile game pipelines.
- Proven track record training and deploying ML models using Py Torch.
- Practical experience with image generation models, multimodal models, and LLMs (incl. SFT, DPO, GRPO).
- Proficiency with Google Vertex AI for end-to-end ML development.
- Experience with LLM agents and adaptive systems in complex environments.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, Sec Ops, IT, and exec stakeholders in a highly matrixed org.
- Clear communicator and problem-solver - able to move fast without breaking trust or quality.
