We're partnering with one of the UK's fastest-growing Defence and GovTech companies, to help grow their Machine Learning team. This isn't a research role. It's an opportunity to build AI systems that solve real-world problems and are deployed into operational environments where reliability, performance and speed matter.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing, building and deploying production Machine Learning solutions from concept to release
- Owning the full ML lifecycle including data engineering, model development, evaluation, deployment and monitoring
- Developing modern AI systems using LLMs, RAG and agentic workflows where appropriate
- Deploying AI onto edge and embedded platforms alongside cloud infrastructure
- Building scalable MLOps pipelines including CI/CD, model versioning, automated evaluation and monitoring
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practice
What we're looking for:
- Commercial experience delivering Machine Learning solutions into production
- Strong Python software engineering skills
- Experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Experience building production LLM, RAG or agentic AI applications
- Strong understanding of MLOps, CI/CD and cloud deployment
- Experience working across the full ML lifecycle rather than pure research
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
Nice to have:
- Edge AI or embedded ML deployment (Jetson, Raspberry Pi, ARM or similar)
- Computer Vision
- Databricks, Spark, MLflow
- Docker, Kubernetes and AWS
- Experience working in defence, aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems or other safety-critical environments
- Current SC or DV clearance (although candidates eligible for SC are encouraged to apply)
