We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead delivery within a complex, large-scale system integration programme for a high-profile customer. This is a newly created role, offering a rare opportunity to shape the capability from the ground up and play a pivotal role in establishing and maturing SAFe delivery at scale. You will be operating within a demanding customer environment that requires strong leadership, credibility, and the ability to “hit the ground running” from day one.

As the Release Train Engineer, you will act as the servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex system integration outcomes. You will:

  • Lead and facilitate key SAFe ceremonies, including PI Planning, ART Sync, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops
  • Hold Scaled Agile Framework certification
  • Have proven experience leading project teams to deliver complex solutions and the ability to resolve conflicts and coach Scrum Masters
  • Drive alignment across multiple delivery teams and stakeholders within a highly complex customer organisation
  • Foster a high-performing, continuously improving delivery environment
  • Provide clear, confident engagement with senior customer stakeholders
  • Establish and embed RTE best practice in an area where this capability is still being developed

About You

You are a high-calibre delivery leader with the presence, resilience, and emotional intelligence to operate in a challenging and highly visible environment. You will bring:

  • Proven experience as a Release Train Engineer within large-scale system integration programmes
  • Strong working knowledge of SAFe 6
  • A track record of delivering complex outcomes across multi-team, multi-supplier environments
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience with demanding customers
  • The confidence and self-awareness to operate at senior levels and provide constructive challenge
  • The ability to implement new delivery capabilities in a growing organisation

As this is a UK Eyes Only project, you must be a British sole national, eligible for SC Clearance. Ability to work onsite in Hereford, approximately one day per week.
