Role Summary
AAT Qualified Accountant required to cover Maternity Leave for 12-month fixed term contract. Responsible for the production of management account information and working with the Financial Controller to deliver through efficient and effective processes, with due controls in place.
Main duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparation and timely issue of weekly sales data, KPI packs & associated metrics.
- The role involves a high level of data manipulation and analysis in Excel.
- Preparation and initial review of period end accounts including processing and journalling accruals & prepayments, cost analysis versus forecast to manage phasing's, initial commentary on accounts, processing the TB and resolving misbalances and errors.
- Preparation of departmental spend analysis providing explanations and clarity in terms of variances against expectations and budgets.
- Timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations, including payroll control accounts and weekly payroll journals.
- Support the financial controller in delivering year end audit requirements.
- Updating and reconciling the fixed asset register, including review of capitalised fixed assets against approved capex requests / disposals, and running the monthly depreciation.
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns and reconciliation of control accounts.
- Support the senior financial team for period end final reviews & completion including intercompany postings.
- Provide support to complete and review the financial pack, ready to submit to internal & external partners and shareholders.
- Supporting the Forthglade broader team with information requests, cover to include payroll, and ad hoc duties as and when required.
Person Specification
- Previous management accounts experience.
- AAT qualification level 4.
- Highly confident and experienced with using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Good communicator, able to engage others and build collaborative relationships easily.
- A proactive approach and a willingness to show initiative and solve problems will also be required.
- Be prompt, reliable and trustworthy.
- The ability to build good relationships and communicate effectively at all levels is essential.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and maintain excellent attention to detail.
