Due to an increase in demand for Mechanical Maintenance Engineers, the Department of STEM and Construction is seeking an experienced candidate as a Lecturer to teach Mechanical Engineering for learners across SCQF levels 5 to 7 in a practical and experiential setting. The role is a mixture of workshop, mainly teaching first year apprentices and classroom delivery. Candidates with significant industrial experience in a relevant engineering field will be considered. This will include candidates without previous teaching experience. You will produce high quality learning, teaching and assessment materials.

Ideally, candidates will hold a relevant Higher National qualification or professional equivalent. Teaching experience is desirable but not essential; the successful candidate should be prepared to work toward a professional teaching qualification, and Assessor and Verifier qualifications. This is a hands-on role delivering practical training in our engineering workshops on systems like heat exchangers, pipework, bearings, compressors, and valves. While the focus is on practical delivery, some classroom teaching may also be required.

Ideally, you will work as part of a team to ensure that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date. You will also have appropriate ICT skills and possess good knowledge and understanding of health and safety. The Department of STEM and Construction operates across all three Forth Valley campuses and there may be a requirement to work at our other campuses if required.

We offer excellent terms and conditions and staff benefits, including:

  • Generous holiday entitlement of 62 days including Public Holidays & College Closure Days.
  • Access to Scottish Teachers Superannuation Pension Scheme.
  • Free access to the college gyms.
  • A flexible working environment tailored to support work-life balance.
  • Participation in a cycle to work scheme, promoting a healthy and environmentally friendly commute option.

We are committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We understand that individuals may have different needs and we are dedicated to providing reasonable adjustments to support candidates throughout the recruitment process. If any adjustments are required to be made, please contact. The college will work with each individual to identify and implement appropriate solutions to ensure you have a fair and equitable opportunity to demonstrate your skills and qualifications.

Closing date: 24 June 2025

Interviews will be held on 3 July 2025
