Forth Valley College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Language Skills Community Learning Facilitator to join our Care, Sport, Business & Communities Department at our Alloa Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to support individuals who are developing confidence in their English language and communication skills in a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment.

The role focuses on facilitating informal language practice through conversation, social interaction and practical activities, helping participants build confidence in everyday communication and access wider opportunities for learning and community engagement.

About the Role

The role is to facilitate community-based language practice rather than formal teaching or assessment. As an English Language Skills Community Learning Facilitator, you will:

  • Create a safe, friendly and non-judgemental space where participants can practice and develop their communication skills at their own pace.
  • Facilitate informal English language practice sessions through conversation, group activities and real-life scenarios.
  • Encourage participation and help individuals build confidence in their communication skills.
  • Design and facilitate flexible, informal learning activities that meet a range of confidence and ability levels.
  • Monitor attendance and gather participant feedback.
  • Build positive relationships with participants, student services, curriculum colleagues, support teams and community partners.
  • Signpost learners to relevant college, community and support services.
  • Contribute insights on learner engagement, emerging needs and barriers to participation.
  • Ensure accurate attendance records and follow appropriate guidance and referral processes.

Please note that this role does not involve formal teaching, assessment or delivery of accredited ESOL programmes.
