STEM and Construction are looking for a Technician. Suitable candidates will ideally be educated to a minimum of HNC level in a related subject, although applicants with relevant industrial laboratory experience and a relevant NC or SVQ may be considered. We are looking for an adaptable and innovative individual with a passion for Welding, or general engineering disciplines such as Electrical or Mechanical. Ideally, you will have experience working in a similar technician role, or a role within industry as a Welder, Fabricator, Electrical or Mechanical engineer, or supporting roles related to these engineering disciplines.
Key duties include:
- Preparing workshops for practical classes
- Preparing materials and solutions, and setting up equipment for use in practical classes
- Setting up and carrying out demonstrations in the workshop to students
- Monitoring, restocking, and ordering consumables in the workshop
- Working safely and adhering to Health and Safety protocols
- Ensuring all equipment is working correctly
- Retrieving and clearing away equipment and materials
- Supporting the teaching staff and other technicians in the department
This role is predominantly workshop-based.
